2021Design Build 2021
Design Build is a yearly program for Third-Year students
that takes us out to a place called MedCamps, a free
summer camp for kids with profound special needs.
Our job this year was to design and build the new
entrance to the camp with a $10,000 budget. We
accomplished this goal with a 75-foot tower, 16 foot
tall and 55 foot wide tunnel, and a 2-ton gate at the
street front.
My first contribution to the project was to be on the
team that designed the tunnel, what we called the
“portal”. Once the portal was designed, I was involved
in several client presentations and was one of the
students lucky enough to lead the team in charge of
constructing the two 10 foot tall gabion walls on either
side of the portal.
Skills Learned:
Leadership
Team Building
Delegation
Conceptual Development
Managing client expectations
Project budgeting
Flexibility
