South Carolina’s 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office Mock Trial Facility

A Mock Trial Facility run by 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone, intended to be a learning hub where law students from across the country can attend and practice. Equipped with 5 mock courtrooms of varying sizes, each with it’s own breakout room. The Facility would also boast a catering kitchen, lounge, and sprawling patio overlooking pristine low-country marshland.

My Role:

Provided architectural support from conceptual design through schematic design for a mock trial facility serving South Carolina’s 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Worked closely with senior architects to develop the overall design concept, spatial organization, and architectural character of the building, contributing to early studies that explored form, massing, and programmatic relationships appropriate for a legal training environment.

Inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, translating classical proportions, symmetry, and civic presence into a contemporary educational and judicial context. Assisted with layout development for courtroom and support spaces, ensuring functionality, clarity of circulation, and alignment with the project’s instructional goals. Contributed to visual studies and schematic documentation while gaining experience in precedent‑based design and early client engagement under ongoing mentorship from project leadership.
